The Honorable Judge Al Cercone
The Honorable JUDGE AL CERCONE
Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Place 1 (Retired)

Come discover “Realities of the Courtroom for Investors and Landlords” — the latest on small claims and landlord-tenant law, and how they actually work in the courtroom.

Come meet the Judge.

If you have been a local investor in this area for any time, and especially as a landlord, you are probably already familiar with Judge Cercone, and you know exactly why you would tell everyone they "don't want to miss his presentation".

If you had to deal with dozens of evictions, disputes, and other small claims and civil complaint issues, every day, month in and month out, you would probably hear pretty much every sad scenario, and see every legal strategy, possible. You would probably develop a pretty keen insight into the psychology of delinquent tenants and disgruntled citizensI.And, of course, you would know all the law and procedures, inside-out and backwards. Well, that would be a fair description of your day-to-day routine if you were a dedicated Justice of the Peace like Judge Cercone. So you can understand how attending a presentation by a very involved and active JP like that will make for some very interesting, informative...and amusing, discussion.

Judge Al Cercone presided over one of the busiest and most productive JP courts in Texas, from 1992 until last year. His judicial duties included overseeing tens of thousands of civil and criminal cases annually.

Also, since 1994, Judge Al Cercone has served on the faculty of the Texas Justice Court Training Center, where he provided the required continuing legal and judicial education for all Texas Justices of the Peace. He also served as the mentoring judge for those of his peers (other JP's) deemed to be in need of guidance or supplemental (remedial) education, on behalf off the Texas State Commission on Judicial Conduct. In 2006, he was also approved by TREC (the Texas Real Estate Commission) to be a TREC MCE instructor.

As a previously very successful business owner for more than 28 years, Judge Cercone brought a very business-like no-nonsense approach to the court. His wealth of experience and knowledge enabled him to better understand the cases over which he presides, and to greatly enhance the effectiveness and customer service demonstrated by his court, which has, in turn, produced a strong community confidence in Judge Cercone's "Peoples' Court."

Judge Cercone has also been an active real estate investor throughout his career. His successes have included multiple flips, rentals, and building new construction.l
