We are excited, and very grateful, that four of our very experienced and successful local investors have agreed to share with us their favorite ‘war story’ about “the crazy deal I’ll never forget”. The stories will be unusual and entertaining, – as well as perhaps providing a message or lesson about investing which we all might heed and benefit from. We’re going to have a great good time, with entertainment and inspiration.

___________  P R O G R A M  D E T A I L S  ____________

Mark Fedderson became a full time real estate investor in 2001. He started by rehabbing the properties which he bought. He built up his own full-time rehab crew. He always bought houses from private sellers – who called him. He didn’t want to compete with the 100’s of other investors who were working the deals on MLS. He has since wholesaled more than 150 houses, in addition to continuing with a very active, full time business of rehabbing and flipping. He has a passion to share what he has learned with others. His teaching mission now is to ‘try to present only truly useful and valid information – the real picture and actual proven techniques – as clearly, and positively, and usefully as possible’.  

L. Scott Horne is a real estate attorney with Horne and Associates, PC in Dallas, Texas. He has been practicing real estate law in North Texas for more than 30 years. In addition to having a Title Company with multiple offices in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, his firm specializes in working with Realtors and real estate investors in structuring and drafting creative real estate transactions, as well as their other business legal needs. Scott has purchased, remodeled and sold, more than 2,500 single homes; built more than 50 single family homes; completed more than 10,000 creative financed transactions; and transacted more than 4,000 hard money loans.

Lisa Simmons-Flores started her real estate career in 2001, when she left her job as a top producer in corporate sales. Lisa is a licensed realtor and master negotiator who is well known for her enthusiasm in helping sellers and coaching new investors. Lisa started doing short sales 15 years ago, and her team (TX Home Rescue) has helped homeowners stop more than 1,000 foreclosures. Lisa, and her husband Steve, are currently renovating 8 houses (ARV $150K-$700K) and building three new luxury homes. They have owned more than 20 rental properties. Lisa’s skills include more than investing and negotiations. She loves redesigning floor plans, specializes in kitchen and bathroom design, and even stages all their properties.

Curt Eley is a relatively new investor. After 30 plus years in ‘W2’ roles, rising from entry-level to VP of $40+ billion dollar organization, Curt was ready for a change. In August 2016, he joined NTAREI, and a few months later, he and his wife began real estate investing on a full-time basis. With additional help from his daughter-in-law, the family enterprise conducted their first transaction in January 2017, and they have followed that with a variety of additional successful transactions.
